      What's brewing for WvW?

Our overlord Devon Carver, the source of all joy and woe did an AMA recently and posted on official forums.

I will sum up some of the most important information:

GvG will be a valid game mode once again
Anet has started working on an area that will be accessible through the EB jumping puzzle somewhere around the start of it. It will feature a fairly large space in the design of the rest of the jumping puzzle (ruins, colour scheme, lighting...). Bloodlust buff will not work there and an option to join will be added to the WvW UI panel.

It will be removed from the WvW queue and limit system. Same as the jumping puzzle. Therefore it will not interfere with normal WvW proceedings and will not add to queues.

The timeframe for release has not been set and they don't want to talk about it yet, but from what they're saying they already have most of the area done, because they are spoiling that it's looking great and people will love it. I am not getting my hopes high for the last big release on 18th October as they'd be already willing to give us more details.

      Bloodlust
Bloodlust buff has not filled the role Anet thought it might (I don't know what they were thinking, really), but they realize it and it will be toned down stat-wise. In the meantime they will be working on ideas on how to make it into a mechanic that would support the weaker team and allow comebacks. The idea was to support smaller groups if I understand it correctly. The worst impact it had is on smaller groups and GvG where the playing field is already equal. It doesn't make that much difference for big groups.

      Breaking up blobs
They are not ready to share anything at the moment, but they are thinking about ways to discourage running in groups of 60 people.

      Siege effectivity
Siege with masteries has become so powerful that it's making upgrades obsolete especially if you have access to 60 people with supply. It is hard for them to modify the upgrade system and therefore they will possibly try to approach it by tweaking siege properties and masteries. No timeframe was given on this update either.

      Hot news! This just in!

      forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/…zations/first#post3009538

We will see significant improvement down the line, but small changes have been rolling out continually. Some of them (mostly unnoticeable) will be rolled out on 15th of Oct. They are continuously preparing the ground with incremental updates to optimize the performance.

"I’m also constantly exploring other ways to improve the game, which led me to something that I literally just finished wrapping up today. This change will go directly into testing early next week, which will then help us determine how significant it is and when we are comfortable enough to push it to the Live game. I’m really optimistic about this change in particular; seeing massive drops in server load"

This sounds really interesting and it should help WvW as it's quite server-heavy with all the data syncing going on at the same time.

"Ideally I will continue to sneak in changes every 6 weeks or so, and when there are changes that players will notice, by all means there will be a release note to call them out."

Every 6 weeks seems like a decent optimization update cycle compared to how much resources they dedicate to content. And that's coming from me, who at times has 6 fps in a battle.
